<OOC: Yup, the dance is starting now! (we've had tons of dances before, but I'm really excited for this one... I'm not sure why, but let's make it good!) This is the 'main' thread for the dance but youse can just go make more private threads so this one doesn't get cluttered. Just post here once or twice before wandering away ^^. Please don't forget to keep up with this thread, though, because any updates on the dance will be posted here. (tornadoes, dinosaur/alien rampage, etc.) >
Sheer
He only owns one suit, a black one that he got cheep at some store in New York, and he's wearing it tonight. Somehow, he still looks less than formal and kind of scruffy in a nice kind of way. Despite Sheer's normal lazy attitude he'd managed to clean himself up properly for homecoming. His white hair is pulled back in a short ponytail and since he died it last night his black roots aren't showing very much anymore. His brown eyes glitter, catching the dimmed light from the ceiling, as he leans against on of the walls, drinking the red punch stuff that's probably not even punch at this point even though the dance has only just started. The dance is only just beginning and the DJ is doing the hit and miss thing, trying to guess what people will like. So far, Sheer can't criticize anything but he's hoping for dustup or something he can dance properly to.
Robin
The ballerina fixes the silver and black mask onto her face and walks through the door. She'd been waiting for this night for so long! Before she had left her dorm she'd taken the rest of her pills and she's sure that it's enough to keep away the pain for the entire dance. We won't let you be hurt. Her familiar, Nezumi's, voice drifts across her mind, he must have misunderstood her anxiety and took it for real danger. "No, I'm fine." She says out loud, to make it real. Homecoming, she really loves things like this. Robin had saved up all of her money, and some donations from Sheer, to buy the dress she's wearing now. It's light blue and fits well enough without being to tight and tripping her, however it's strapless and it doesn't really go down as far as she'd like. She shrugs and puts that out of her mind, she's lucky just to have a dress! She'd spent a lot of time on the smoky makeup that she normally just rubs on and after taking a shower she'd carefully brushed her hair and made sure that it won't frizz or be messed up easily.
There aren't many people on the dance floor but Robin spreads out her arms and starts dancing in the middle of the room. The song that's playing now is kind of slow and relaxing without being the kind of song that requires everyone to couple up and dance one on one. Even though this isn't the kind of place where she can do full out ballet it's good enough. Robin doesn't really prefer one type of dancing over another because it's all good to her.
Kao
Kao is really looking foreword to the dance, mainly because it's something normal that happens even at normal schools. He can dance with Fivel and see his friends, even though his brother is still missing. Every few nights, though, he gets a message on his phone or a text telling him that Evan's alright. At least he doesn't have to worry, but it really bothers him to be separated from his twin, especially since it's so soon after the Fathom incident.
The younger twin doe his best to put that problem out of his mind, worrying won't solve anything. Instead, he pushes through the crowd to try and find Fivel.
Black
Black tugs nervously at the collar of her suit. A few days ago Kao had found out that she didn't own one and agreed to lend her one of his. Somehow he managed to make it fit her nicely, even though she's more than a foot shorter than him. Since she's not really one for dancing, she sits in one of the chairs near the side of the room and picks at a small plate of food. Black wonders if Tyler will be here, she kind of wants to dance with him... and that's impossible. As long as she's masquerading as a boy, and who knows when that will end, she can't let anyone realize that she likes Tyler. He can't know either, even if he just thinks that she's gay and accepts it, he'll probably realize that she's a girl sooner or later. That would result in her loosing her scholarship... and if he doesn't accept her then she'll loose a friend. Frustrated with herself, she leans her head on one of her hands and lets her shaggy black hair fall over her eyes. Hopefully this dance will end quickly before anything bad happens.
Juliet
The Modifier has changed her appearance only slightly since she came to Castle. Juliet decided that it would be stupid to flaunt her gift by changing her looks every day, it would only make people confused and maybe even make people resent her. Her long blond hair is indigo today, dark blue to match her eyes, and it falls in thick curls down her back. She's wearing a grey silk dress that her aunt had given her. It's very soft and light, not uncomfortable at all, so she doesn't mind wearing it even though she normally prefers jeans. Juliet hunches her shoulders and hides in a dark spot near the walls. If she's lucky, she won't have to do anything. She'd considered staying at her dorm through the dance, but she hadn't wanted to be a coward and hide from things like dances and people. Now she regrets it.

Artemis walks into the ballroom, albeit nervously. Though he carries himself with confidence, it is only a facade to hide the nervous tension that he feels. He had only just arrived at Castle a few days prior to this event, and felt a little out of place among the sea of unfamiliar faces. The boy had yet to reunite with his old friends, and he had only caught minute glances of them throughout the week. How he'd missed them all; it'd been months. Three, to be exact.
The suit Artemis is wearing is a simple dark gray one. It was the very same one he'd worn to the Halloween dance at the Havens a year or so back. It felt like ages ago. Standing off to the side, he fiddled around with his light blue tie, gazing around the room desperately trying to spot at least one person he used to know.

Jimmy
Jimmy never liked dances. There, he said it. Dances at The Havens always made him nervous, because he new something was always going on behind the scenes with people trying to slay him, and because he was more apt to spend his time studying or looking through case studies than to go to the silly thing. If he really wanted to dance with April, he would've just danced with her. He wanted that to be private. Nonetheless, April's opinion was the exact opposite. No, he never asked her, but he could tell. Whenever something came up about the dance, she got very excited and would never lose the gleam in her eye. So, because he could never say no to her, he was stuck going to the stupid dance, which he was never fond of anyway. His father had previously owned and routinely worn many, many tuxedos, which were all passed down to Jimmy when his father passed away five years ago. Jimmy picked out his favorite, one the color of midnight with a pure white tie. On his face lay an also pure white mask that covered his eyes. He pushed through the crowd to find April.
Death the Kid He didn't see a point of being at the dance. He never really saw the point of dances anyway, since everything was so stiff and formal and no one really actually got to do anything useful besides.. well, nothing. In fact, he didn't want to go. But something pulled at him as he was about to leave for the library, and he stopped himself. Kid, cursing himself for his strange behavior, made his way into the ballroom and stationed himself by the far wall. Nothing was going to get past him. Not tonight. Not ever.
Fivel and Winry She did not want to go. Never, ever, ever, did she ever want to go to the dance. She was asked about it by some other silly little freshmen, and she replied with a quick glare and a sharp 'no'. Not ever in hell was she ever going to dress up and go dancing for no reason. But Winry got hold of her and wouldn't let her say no. "As director of this dance, it is mandatory that you go, Fivel Baptiste-Lancaster!" she commanded. "Imagine how romantic it will be for you and Kao to meet in the middle of the dance floor, all dressed up.. it'll be perfect!" Fivel had no choice but to obey the tall, overpowering senior. Winry dressed her up like a doll in a pretty, knee-length gold and navy colored dress that frilled that the ends and tied her waist up to a small size, making her look like a mini doll. As Fivel stepped into the ballroom, the crowd stopped and parted away for her, making her face go bright red. She hid behind her mask, which matched her dress. Aw, man. She thought. This is so embarressing.. I hope Kao never finds me.
Flock It was almost complete. All of the pawns were falling into place perfectly. She just had to wait now. Completely hidden behind a midnight black mask, she drifted in the crowd, watching everything. Tonight, we will take control of Castle for good.
Tiffany/Nathan Nathan sits on the bleachers, completely bored. Tiffany made him dress up in a tux and everything. He just wanted to go home. Tiffany herself was helping herself to punch, and standing around.

April April flounced into the room, adjusting her red and white masqurade mask. Her heart fluttered with excitement. The dance was finally here! She smoothed out the creases in her dress, even though they were supposed to be there. April was wearing a short, red, strapless dress that had a ruffled black band wrapped around her stomach and black lace on the edges. She had been looking forward to this night for a long time; it was the one thing about school starting that was good. Not to mention the fact that it would help her take her mind off everything that had been happening.
Rekees This wasn't the first homecoming Rekees had ever been to in Castle. But she was certainly looking forward to going, seeing as the Haven students would be here for the first time. If they thought their homecoming was good, they'll have a blast at Castle's homecoming. Rekees was wearing an ruffled, elegant, short silver dress with thin spagetti straps and a matching black masqurade mask. Her hair was piled up in a bun and she was wearing black high-heeled shoes. She glided over to the punch bowl and got a drink, gazing around at all the decorations and lights and letting the music fill her ears. She hoped that there would be some slow-dancing music. But then she remembered, she didn't have anyone to dance with. "Oh." she let out a small sigh of dissapointment.

Brooke She stared at the crowd as they had a good time. There was nothing she looked forward to more than this dance, she just adored this type of thing. Despite her excitement, she felt somewhat sick to her stomach, thus her silence. She let out a sigh and leaned against the wall. She then stared down to her feet, which were in white sandals. Cause of her clumsiness, she despised heels. Her sky blue dress ended right at her knee. Her dress was just a plain blue strapless dress with a snow white ribbon that wrapped around her waist with a big bow in the back. She wore her curly light brown hair down. Around her neck was a simple necklace with a simple silver eighth note charm. Dangling off of her ears were matching silver earrings. Her mask was the same pure white as her gloves and the ribbon. Her blues eyes pierced through the mask, their color matching her dress.
Kerri She thought about coming invisible, but decided that it was a stupid idea. It was a masquerade already. Her platinum blonde hair was in a side pony-tail which relaxed on her shoulder. She wore a floor length gray dress. Her heart was beating and her mind was racing, wondering why she even came. She hardly knew anyone at the school, but she recognized Sheer's white hair. She thought about greeting him but decided she would do that later. Her eyes scanned the crowd trying to look for a certain guy named Evan. Her eyes stopped at Kao. She saw a guy with the same hair, height, looks but wearing a mask. She couldn't tell for sure who it was but something in her gut told her it wasn't Evan. She walked up to the figure and tapped his shoulder. "Uhmm... Y-you p-probably don't know who I am...." She stuttered over her words carelessly. "B-but are you Kao? I-i'm looking for Evan. Is he here?"
Headmistress Hastings The headmistress walked up the stairs and onto the stage. "Attention students!" She spoke into the mic. She took a minute for them to point their attention towards her. "Welcome to this year's Homecoming Dance!" She said eagerly. "A lot of hard work has been put into making this dance enjoyable for you all! Now, there will be many features to this dance, which will all be announced by your student DJ, Darren Cross! Please give him a hand!" She gestured towards Darren, who was sitting behind his stereo and equipment.
Darren He nodded at Headmistress Hastings and leaned into his mic. "Hey!!!! We're gonna have a really good time tonight!" He flashed a dazzling smile to the crowd. He wore a green mask and casual clothes. "First, Imma play some hit songs to get this party started. Then Imma take some requests, so if you have a request then come up into the DJ booth and come tell me and I'll add it to the queue. Oh and don't forget to vote for your homecoming king and queen! Every vote counts dudes." He then turned up the music and the party rock anthem blasted through the speakers. "LET'S GET THIS PARTY ROCKIN'!" He simply loved his job.

Samie Samie hated dresses. And skirts. They were, simply said, the bane of her existence. The last time she had worn a dress had been some time in 5th grade for a graduation ceremony. It had been an overly fancy monster. Samie couldn't suppress the shudder that went through her as she thought about it. Somehow the occasion was made a bit better with her bright crimson dress with thin spaghetti straps. It flowed to a bit above her knees and clashed with her blue-gray eyes. She wore black combat boots with her dress, since she hadn't brought any dress shoes from her house to Castle. Her dark brown hair was twisted into a low pony tail. The mask fitted onto her clammy face was a pallid beige with gold trimming. She pushed it up again, for the third time in a minute, making her feel like she was 10 again with chunky glasses. Samie desperately wanted to rip it off and storm out of the dance place, but refrained. In her opinion, dresses were horrible, but school dances were worse. Nothing murdered her like 3 continuous hours of sweating in a packed area like herded cattle. Once she entered she immediately spotted Fivel, obvious with her bright red hair, and Brooke, leaning against a wall. She fought through the crowd and waved at Brooke. "Ello. I've never met you before." She joked.
Tyler A masquerade ball, what a stupid idea. Tyler scoffed to himself as he weaved through the crowd. It seemed painfully obvious to him who everyone was, just from the way they dressed. Tyler sighed, and tugged on his white collared shirt so he didn't feel like it was choking him. He had been forced into a suit by the disapproving glare of his mother when he asked if he could just wear his uniform. Typical. He glanced around the room. The atmosphere was gray and dreary, as if they were at a funeral's after party and the people were glancing at each other as if to ask, Is this some kind of sick joke? This party needs some livening up, he thought, a grin growing on his face. He approached Fivel. "Care for a dance?" He asked, oddly polite. Without waiting for an answer, he twirled Fivel around.
Seth Seth tousled his already tousled brown hair. His gold eyes darted around the room nervously, as if someone were going to come and attack him. After all, his childhood was made up from running away and never trusting anyone, so of course, being locked in a room with hundreds of people made him jittery. Sure, he wasn't afraid of being in a classroom, but in classrooms, there weren't that many people and there were always windows to escape from. His hands were clenched fists in his suit pockets. He leaned on a wall, watching people, and hoping that his mask wouldn't fall off.

Fivel shuffled her feet across the floor nervously, feeling uncomfrotable without Kao standing by her. She hadn't left his side since escaping Flock and returning to school. Since then, she hadn't seen anything of the nefarious nurse. She searched over the crowd for the back of Kao's messy, bleached blonde head. She hoped that at least he wouldn't laugh at her. Because, really, she felt like laughing at herself in the middle of everything. But she didn't want to look completely crazy in the crowd of people, whose population was increasing as the night began to unfold. Plus. Fivel thought. I'm so nervous, its either laugh, or burst in tears. And laughing sounds more appealing. So, she let out a nervous mutter of a laugh. and then completely moved on. Kao. Gotta find Kao. She sifted through the crowd, looking more and more until she found him. There was Sheer, that tall guy with vibrant blonde hair, but it still wasn't Kao. Finally, she took a right turn past a group of people and found him in the crowd, his back to her. Relieved, she began to go forward to him. "Kao-" Without warning, someone intercepted her outstretched hand and pulled her into a dance, twriling her around. "Care for a dance?" her sudden partner asked, not really waiting for an answer. Fivel finally got a look at his face, her blood stopping cold for a second. "Tyler." she said. The last time she'd seen him, he'd been smirking at her in the dungeon under Flock's office. "What're you doing here?" she asked, mildly afraid of what might happen if she continued dancing with him. She tried to escape his grasp around her wrist and middle, but, he was too strong, and so she continued to dance with him. "What do you want?" she asked, grimmacing as she continued on their small waltz around the ballroom. "Are you here to hurt me again?"

Darren starts to turn the music down into a slow, romantic tune. "Hey, grab a partner everyone. I'm slowing it down for all you love birds out there" He took a moment to wink at a cute girl who giggled sweetly. He sat down in his chair and took a swig of water, letting out a sigh. Being DJ was hard work, even with his super tech powers.
Brooke's eyes scanned for her friends. She turned to find a girl with familiar red hair dancing with someone. Fivel. She smiled for her friend, even though she was confused that the figure she was dancing with wasn't Kao. She shrugged and started to wander through the crowd of couples dancing with goofy smiles on their faces. Searching for more familiar figures, she hears Samie greeting her. She spun to find her beautiful friend and hugged her, despite Samie's hate for hugs. "Samie! So glad to see you! Have you seen Fivel? She's over there dancing with some mysterious dude", she teased with a grin and a giggle. "I can't really tell who it is with his mask on, but I wonder how Kao is feeling about it". While she waits for her friend's reply, she realized how parched she was. After Samie replied, she said "One sec, I'm oober thirsty... I'm gonna go get some punch." She skips over to the refreshments table near the wall, her night lit up by Samie's presence. Right behind the table was Seth, leaning on the wall. She couldn't help but smile, the night was getting better and better. She took her cup of water and walked over to stand next to him. Turning to face him, and looked up to his height, she greeted him. "Hey, do you remember me? Well, maybe not with this mask on.." she giggled. "Guess who I am!" She always loved games.

(wow, I fell so far behind... haha)
Kao
Having been lost in thought, Kao jumps when Kerri taps his shoulder. Irrationally, he'd expected to be completely ignored for the whole dance. "I don't, sorry, though you look familiar." He smiles and pushes a hand through his feathery blond hair. "You're looking for Evan? He's been gone for a while, but I expect he'll be back soon. Don't worry, even though I don't know where he is he can fend for himself." Then he notices that the girl looks kind of worried and he takes of his mask to make her feel better. "Please excuse me, I have to go find my... uh, Fivel." True to his formal upbringing he smiles like a gentleman and even bows slightly before walking away.
The tall blond twin looks over everyone else's heads and soon spots Fivel's red hair in the middle of the crowd. All the people are moving to fast and she's far away so he can't really tell what she's wearing or even the expression on her face. Kao knows it's ridiculous to be this excited but he still shoves his way through the crowd, trying very hard not to push the smaller students over by accident. Halfway there he sees the boy named Tyler ask Fivel to dance. He stops dead and kind of stares at them in shock. What? He hadn't even known that they knew each other...
Kao clicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth and keeps walking towards Fivel. There's no way that he's letting Tyler get what he wants so easily. When he gets closer he notices that Fivel doesn't exactly look happy, which is good and bad for different reasons. "Heh." He grins wryly. "C'mon, Fivel, you're my date tonight so you can't be dancing with other guys." Easily enough, he scoops Fivel up in his arms so he's kind of carrying her like a princess. Over her shoulder, he glares at Tyler. " It's rude to steal, go find your own girl." He smirks before heading towards the opposite side of the room. "So, Fivel, are you enjoying the night?"
Sheer
Someone from the crowd catches his eye and out of pure curiosity he decides to go see who it is. He weaves through the crowd easily, mostly because most people avoid him like the plague, and searches out the interesting girl. When he finds her he almost feels like dunking his head in the punch bowl out of sheer frustration. (haha, I made a joke! lol, sorry...) It seems like no matter what he does he can't avoid or forget about Rekees. Throughly irritated with himself, he decides to watch her a bit more. She'd been pretty when he first saw her in the hallways, but he has to admit that she looks even better in a dress. Now that he's looking he can tell that she's put a lot of effort into looking nice for this, and... he groans loudly and turns around to shove his way out of the crowd. "D-mn it." He mutters before walking out into the hallway and collapsing in a corner that's more-or less hidden. Actually, he's kind of in plain site, but out of all the corners it's the most secluded one that's available.

Rekees A loud groan behind her startled Rekees. She recognized that voice. She hasn't been able to get it out of her head ever since she had met Sheer in the hall. Rekees turned, gazing curiously in the direction she had heard the groan. There. She glimpsed a flash of white hair. Her lips formed a smile and she followed Sheer. When she caught up to him, she tapped him on the shoulder. "Hello again!" she chirped melodiously. "Remember me, Sheer?" Rekees smiled at him, suddenly feeling self-conscious. Was her mask straight? Did her hair look good? Was her dress wrinkled? All those questions rushed through her head as she gazed into Sheer's face with wide eyes.
April April plowed through people as she looked over the heads of others, trying to find Jimmy. He was tall, so he shouldn't have been that hard to find, and yet she couldn't find him anywhere. She stopped by the punch bowl to get a drink. "Hi Brooke!" April grinned when she spotted Brooke. "How've you been lately?" at that precise moment, she spotted Jimmy. "Oh, there he is! Be back later, Brooke!" April waved and scurried off. She snuck up behind Jimmy and covered his eyes with her hands. "Guess who!" she chirped happily.

"Hurt you, when have I hurt you?, if I recall correctly that was all Flock. Although it was quite amusing." Tyler whispered in Fivel's ear as he dipped her. "Teenage girls." He muttered, rolling his eyes. When he saw Kao break through the crowd, Tyler raised an eyebrow. "And here comes your little boyfriend." Tyler grinned as he watched Kao's retreating form. "Nice to see you too. Sorry for trying to have some fun. By the way, how's your brother, Evan was it?" He asked trying for an innocent tone.
Samie gave Brooke a sly grin. "I'd bet he's burning with rage." She said, laughing. As Brooke walked away to get punch, Samie shuffled her feet awkwardly, feeling out of place. A shiver went down her spine, and she looked up as a tall slim figure darted through the crowd with a black mask on. Somehow the person's gait was familiar to Samie, but before she could pinpoint who it was, they had already disappeared into the crowd. The mystery nagged at her, and she started to follow, accidently elbowing someone, hard. She whirled around to face that person. "Sorry!" She apologized.
"...Guess who I am!" Seth looked around in bewilderment, when he heard Brooke's greeting. He looked down, his eyes meeting her bright turquoise eyes. He surveyed her bouncing curls, pure white mask, and light blue dress as if he were trying to guess. "Hmm... Are you Brooke?" He guessed, knowing he was correct.

Brooke was filled with bliss, loving when she was ever remembered or given extra attention. "and you're Seth." she said with a giggle. She then saw Samie being slightly awkward and waved her friend over to join them. By then, she had forgotten her stomach ache and just wanted to hang out with her friends. "Sooooooo Seth, how have you been doing?" She hadn't really seen him in a while and figured they would catch up.
Kerri felt her shoulders slump with disappointment. "oh ok, sorry to bother you." She walked away and headed towards the door slowly. She didn't leave though, just because Evan wasn't there for a moment. She stood against the wall by the door, so if he came in she could catch him. As she waited, she saw Brooke on the other side of the room, seemingly having a good time with a guy she recognized as Seth. Kerri smiled to herself, thinking of her friend's cheery nature. As she stared, she saw Brooke waving at her vigorously, which widened her smile. Brooke beckoned Kerri to join her, but Kerri refused with a smile.
Darren sat as a new love song elapsed, almost falling asleep. From his seat, he could see all the teacher clumped into a corner, socializing awkwardly. He chuckled at the thought of teachers out of school. At the time he only recalled headmistress Hastings and the creepy nurse, Flock. The headmistress looked somewhat disturbed, which was peculiar for this happy occasion. He shrugged it off and took a 2 minute nap.

Fivel stared up at Tyler, her green eyes glinting with calm anger. "You didn't help, you watched, so what's the difference of hurting me or not?" She glared at him for his comment of it being amusing. Then he dipped her, and she thought he was going to drop her. But he didn't, and she was relieved. At the mention of Kao, her stomach loosened the knots of nervousness that had tied up there when Tyler had demanded that they dance.
"Kao!" She nearly burst into tears. She was so afraid of Tyler's ulterior motives that when Kao spun her up into his arms, she felt as if she'd just escaped the dead man's zone. He made a snide comment about her being his date, and she blushed before replying. "It's not like wanted to dance with him." she mumbled. Feeling utterly drained, her laid her head on his shoulder. He snapped at Tyler and she grinned in spite of herself.
"Nice to see you too. Sorry for trying to have some fun. By the way, how's your brother, Evan was it?"
Fivel nearly felt the shudder run through Kao's body as Tyler taunted him. She looked up at his blue eyes in search of emotion. She grasped his arm. "Kao," she said, her voice soft. She was afraid he'd try to fight Tyler, and, knowing Tyler's gift, Kao would lose. Even if she wanted Kao to win.
Jimmy grinned as April put her hands over his eyes. "Well, if its who I hope it is.." he trailed off, and turned, hugging her around her waist. "Yep. It is."

(Kao vs. Tyler sounds so awesome. Do you want to do something like that later in the dance?)
Kao
Kao freezes upon hearing Evan's name and he closes his eyes so he can make himself calm down. Don't do it. Don't do it. He thinks, repeating the two words endlessly. After a few seconds he laughs. "He's doing fine, don't tell me you're worried about him! Have some faith."
He puts Fivel down, since he doesn't think she's someone who would enjoy being carried around, though he keeps an arm around her for support since she does seem tired. "Hey, lets go outside." He whispers in her ear. "I've got a gift for you."
Thread Jump: Stone and Fire (ballroom sub-board)
Juliet
"Artemis." Juliet says calmly, coming up behind him. Someone who is less familiar with him might have through that she looks angry do to the lack of emotion on her face, though they would be wrong. If anything, she's in a good mood. "It looks like I'm not the only one who went missing. She doesn't really know why she had decided to start talking to the people from her past now of all times, but the impulse had hit her and she'd walked up to him before she could talk herself out of it.
Sheer
Sheer covers his eyes with on of his hands, needing a rare moment of quiet so he can get his head straight. There's no reason he should panic, really. He mutters the words "Calm down." to himself, and then he hears footsteps and a few seconds later, a voice. Of course. He takes his hand away from his eyes and looks up at Rekees. "Oh, hey. Of course I remember you." He says, and then he smiles because he remembers how easily she gets worried about unimportant things like his emotions. "Are you enjoying the dance?"

Kiley timidly walked into the room and looked around shyly. She glanced down and smoothed out her dress. It was sparkly blue dress with a black belt around it. She looked around and then slowly walked up to the nicest looking girl she saw. She stood next to the red headed girl and, looking down at the ground, she mumbled a quick, "Hi."
