"I'm sorry," Alucard says quietly when Robin mentions the part about her being in the hospital. He listens intently to the rest of her story, and when she's done, he decides to give her a simplified version of his story. "I had a sheltered childhood since I was eight," Alucard admitted. "A lot of things happened. I lost my mother in a car accident, and my dad started to become depressed." He skips over the part about his father actually going completely insane and abusing him at points. "My gift also developed around that time, and he sent me to live with my grandmother because he thought she could take care of me better. I've lived with her until I turned seventeen, and then I joined the Havens."

Robin grimaces in sympathy-pain. "That's rough." She doesn't mention that his life seems like a repeating cycle of death. That's too morbid and would probably make him more depressed. She notes the small pause after he talks about his dad and decides that there must be more to that but she doesn't want to pry to much into his life. "But... we're not supposed to know about this and you guys really aren't supposed to know, but Havens was intended to be more of a holding place than a school. They wouldn't have let you graduate. They do here, though." She bites her lip, remembering how she had gotten the information from her Chem teacher, who talked to much for anyone's good. "So I guess your karma's cashing in for you."
(I was going to use the no-graduation thing as a plot on the last site... but oh well.)

//OOC: repeating cycle of death <--pretty much//
"What?" Alucard paused in mid-sip, and slowly put his cup down on the table again. It was nearly gone. He has a bewildered expression on his face. "I thought there was something wrong," he mused quietly, "Besides everything else." Alucard had inconspicuously noticed that the seniors that were supposed to graduate had still been there long after the ceremony and prom.

"Yeah. They did a decent job of covering it up... but they can't make people disappear." Robin takes a huge gulp of coffee and manages to get it caught in her windpipe while giving herself a brain freeze at the same time. "Geh. -hack hack-." She coughs. "Sorry."

"Its okay," Alucard replies. He still looks rather bemused. "I wonder..what they planned on doing with us." Now that he thinks of it, its a good thing the Havens was destroyed. Alucard knew it was a bad thing to think, since that had practically been his home for a while, but the way the people had thought of them and keep them in all that time made him feel like a prisoner.

"They probably would have kept you there." Robin says, a bit to harshly. "I mean... when you look at it from other people's points of view... we're dangerous. They don't know that we'd never hurt anyone. All they've seen is you guys on TV." She pauses, briefly remembering the news reports. "Um... was that you? On the news I mean. The infamous vampires of Havens were quite the news story."

Alucard visibly deflates. "Oh, that.." he trails, avoiding Robin's eyes. Of course the news had covered that story. The grandiose and gruesome Hotel Siege. How could he forget? That night he had truly been something, possessed by the dark desires of slaughter and bloodlust, exhilarated by the prospect of a fight. It was what happened when you cornered and engaged a vampire. And at the time, Alucard had been defending not only himself, but also Emily. "Yeah, that was me."

Robin bites her lip, realizing that she'd upset him. "I didn't mean it that way. I just wanted to know. The news stories were biased but when I saw all of the footage put together online... it looked an awful lot like you were the one being attacked, not the innocent towns-folk." She smiles briefly. "Not many people here have ever really fought. You guys might not notice it, but a lot of the people here admire you all."

Alucard nodded, and finished his coffee. He contemplates what Robin said, and when she is done talking, he is reassured by her smile. She really hadn't meant to upset him. "How did you recognize me that quickly?" Alucard inquired. "From the tapes." Did she remember my face?
Innocent curiosity makes him want to ask more questions. "Admire? Us?" It was nice to hear something like that, but it was a little bit of a surprise to Alucard. Some - not all - of the Castle students had tended to stay away from the Havens kids, and so he had come to the conclusion that besides a few individuals, a lot of the Castle kids didn't like them.

"Huh? Oh... one of my friends had a crush on you... please don't worry about it to much. When I left she liked the werewolf from Twilight." Robin laughs quietly. "I don't think I could forget your face if I tried. It's... easily recognizable." She motions to her own face to demonstrate for some reason. "And yeah. We Castle kids can jump through flaming hoops if we want but I've never seen a singe one of us face down a person aiming to kill us, even a normal person without a power."

Alucard chuckled lightly at the crush comment. He listened quietly as Robin went on to say that she couldn't have forgotten, and the fact that the Castle students hadn't fought on the same level that the Havens students had fought. "Is that so?" he asked, smiling a little bit. "Looks like I'll have plenty of stories to tell." Oh the things he could say. So much had happened.

Robin smiles a little. "Yeah. And the newspaper club will be more than happy to listen and mis-report them, so watch out. But everyone else is nice." Her smile gets a bit bigger because she's actually part of the newspaper club, though she has neglected to go to meetings for the last three months. "And I'll always listen if you want." She adds as an afterthought, hoping it doesn't sound to weird.

"Heh, alright." He appreciates that Robin has listened to him so far, and though he hasn't been completely honest with her, he feels he will be in time. Alucard can't express how much he appreciates it without sounding weird, so he figures a simple thanks would work. "Thank you, Robin," he says sincerely, meaning it. He didn't feel so lonely when he had someone to talk to.

Robin looks at Alucard in surprise. For some reason, she feels like she should be thanking him. "Um... I'm not sure why you're saying thank you... but I'm glad that I was able to do something for you." She frowns a bit, not really sure what she's trying to say. "I feel like you deserve a thank you too. I don't leave Castle much except to go talk to Jory and this was nice."

Alucard nods. "Yes, it was. Oh, and you're welcome. I don't leave much either. Actually, this would be the first time I've been out of school since I came here." He becomes quiet for a moment, staring at his empty cup. He didn't want to go back yet. "Hey Robin?" Alucard asked, "Could we stay here a while longer?"
