"It should," Dr. Adrian said. Sure enough, the electric humming slowed down until it stopped all together. He stood up and walked over to Abel, who had stopped screaming and was now crying in pain. Dr. Adrian unlatched the iron cuffs and the metal piece around the midsection, and took the seven year old into his arms. His skin was slightly darkened and singed. "Oh my God. Oh my God Abel I'm so sorry.."

"So," Seth asked, "Could we dump his body in a river while he's unconscious?" He gestured to Mr. Gordon who was lying the floor stiff and unconscious.

Dr. Adrian shook his head. "This man may be capable of torture, but murder is something I'm not," he replied, setting Abel down on the floor for a moment. "But I have a better idea. We should put him in his own device," Dr. Adrian suggested, gesturing to the machine he'd taken Abel out of.

Seth nodded. "Sounds good." He lifted the man's limp body and placed it in the chair. He then secured his wrists. Seth thumbed up for Dr. Adrian to plug the machine in.

Which he did. Within moments the machine started to whir again, and Dr. Adrian picked Abel up, gesturing to Seth to follow him out of the room. "I'm taking you guys home with me tonight," he said. "I can't leave you two here."

Seth nodded, following the doctor out the door. "Where's your house?" he asked.

"In Hastings," Dr. Adrian replied. Hastings was downtown, not too far from the facility.

Seth frowned but nodded. Hastings sounded like a name to him. He had wondered what cities looked like, and wondered if Hastings was a city.

Outside the facility, Dr. Adrian crossed the parking lot towards his car, unlocking it. He opened one of the doors and put Abel in the back seat, buckling him in. "Seth, why don't you go ahead and sit next to Abel."

Seth nodded, settling down in the seat. It was soft and smooth, made of a material that was foreign to him. Seth ran his fingers over it continuously, finding it relaxing. He turned to look at Abel. Are you okay? He asked.

It hurts everywhere, Abel replied, wincing. Dr. Adrian started the car and pulled out of the parking lot, then made a turn onto the main road. He was going to have to take a look at Abel when they got to the house.

Seth nodded, wishing he had been shocked instead of Abel. Abel didn't deserve to be shocked, being the nicest person Seth knew. Dr. Adrian will fix you up when we get to his house, he told Abel reassuringly.

Abel nodded weakly. I hope so. After a few minutes of silence, Dr. Adrian looked over his shoulder when he got to a red light. "How's he doing?" he asked Seth.

"He says it hurts everywhere," Seth told Dr. Adrian, "Could you try to go a bit faster?"

"Yeah. I'll just be pushing the speed limit." When the light turned green, Dr. Adrian stepped on the gas. The importance of the situation was a pressing issue. Ten minutes later they were in Hastings. It was a modern city, not as big as Manhatten, granted, but big enough. "I wish your first time seeing the city was under different circumstances," Dr. Adrian said sadly.
