(yay my fist post with Rekees!) Light filtered through the stained glass windows as Rekees walked aimlessly through the halls. It was a sunny Saturday morning and she intended to enjoy every moment of the blissful peace and quiet. She didn't have to wear her uniform on Saturday, so she was wearing a pretty, blue floral dress, a brown belt with a buckle, and tall brown boots. Her arms were granted a break from hauling around books and she had a silver pendant around her neck with an intricate design.
Rekees heard a bird twittering outside. A good day. Today will be a good day. she interpreted. She had felt a warm feeling inside her when she had woken up that morning, always a sign of good fortune and happiness for her. Although she hadn't seen any visions of the events that would happen that day, she could tell that something different would happen that day.
Rekees walked on through the halls, not stopping until she realized she didn't know where she was headed. Her soft footsteps, that had echoed throughout the empty hallways, came to an abrupt stop, and she sat down on the windowseat of a window that overlooked the garden. She leaned against the window and presses her fingerpads on the glass. With a great push, she was able to open the window, letting in the warm scents of the oncoming fall. The sunlight was dazzling, blinding, and Rekees cupped a hand over her eyes so she would be able to see the school grounds. Before she knew it, reality swallowed up in a blinding flash, and, not for the first time, she began to witness the future.
Screams and hollers, the gruesome sounds of a battle. Of course, a fight had been expected. Ever since the new Haven students arrived, she couldn't even look outside without seeing something about fighting. She shook her head to clear out the cloudy, uncertain theories of the future.
Before she knew it, she was back on her perch, leaning out of the window dangerously. She clambered off the edge of the window sill and crossed her legs gasping. That's about when she realized she wan't alone, Word Count:378

Sheer buries his hands in his pockets and wanders through the hallways. His insomnia had been playing with him again, he'd been awake for hours doing this and that behind the scenes. It is beginning to feel normal to him, having shadows under his eyes and how his muscles always hurt. Oh well, when he's so tired it's harder for monster-Sheer to come out. So that is... some kind of silver lining.
As is normal for saturdays, he isn't wearing anything that looks neat or proper. His grey shirt is wrinkled like he's slept in it and he's wearing black jeans. His heavy white jacket, at least, was washed just a few hours ago. His fingers run over the strings around his wrists and he decides that he likes this school much better on saturday mornings when no one's around.
Then he realizes that he's not as alone as he'd thought. His brown eyes pass over her, but then he stops dead when he realizes that she's leaning so far out the window that she's in danger of falling. "Hey, careful!" He yells, striding towards her. Why couldn't everyone just sit on the floor and be good? Then they could relax. Before he got far, though, he saw her get of the edge and he feels very stupid. What was he doing, panicking about something like this? He doesn't need to try to babysit every random person. He slows down to a walk. "Second thoughts about jumping?" He asks, casually coming up behind her.

Rekees turned, her large, brown eyes wide. She had thought she would be alone, the halls empty, but that didn't seem to be the case. She wondered what this strange boy was doing, wandering around when most teens would be sleeping late. But, of course, the same could be asked of her and what SHE was doing walking around aimlessly. "Oh! I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you!" she smiled a sweet, shy smile. "Where you worried about me?" Rekees giggled. "I'm not planning on jumping out anytime soon. It's just such a beautiful day, I thought I might as well enjoy as much as I can." She studied Sheer. Was he a student from the Havens? No, she realized, I have seen him in the halls a couple of times. He must be an original Castle student. He seemed casual and...cool. And, although the thought embarrassed Rekees, he seemed pretty good looking. Why would he be worrying about her, a random student he just met? And why hadn't she talked to him before, since she had been going to Castle for over three years? She shook the thoughts from her head, seeing as they didn't really matter, straightened up, offered him a hand and returned the sweet, shy smile to her face "I'm Rekees. Who might you be?" Sheer hums one of the songs that's stuck in his head, not for any particular reason, it's just something that his ipod had dredged up when he left it on shuffle and now he can't get the lyrics out of his head. (song) Distractedly, he runs his fingers through his hair and the silver ring on his thumb throws back the light from the ceiling-lights.
He's embarrassed to be caught in one of his rare moments of altruism though he does his best to hide it by ignoring her question. "Huh, I guess your right, I like stormy days better, personally. Because... um, the clouds look cool." He rubs the back of his neck, suddenly feeling awkward. Pretty girl... and she says her name is Rekees. It's an interesting name, though it's not downright weird like 'Sheer' is. She probably doesn't get people asking her if her mom named her after a favorite pair of scissors.
"I might be Sheer, but who knows." He shrugs and decides to relax, there's no point in being so uptight all the time. "This sounds... odd... but I actually know who you are. You've been going to this school for three years, almost as long as me, so I recognize you." His dark-brown eyes, which had been hovering somewhere above her shoulder, lock back on the pretty girl's face. Since he's been at Castle for so long, this is his fourth year, he really knows everyone and most of their information. He would consider it a personal failure if he didn't, not that it was hard to accomplish. He leans against the wall and puts his hands back in his pockets so he won't be tempted to mess with his hair any more.

Rekees's eyes widened when she heard that Sheer knew her. So he had been going to Castle for some time, huh? She couldn't help but feel a bit guilty for not knowing Sheer, but she was never good at remembering faces very well, so it wasn't really her fault. "Oh, well than I'm sorry for not knowing your name. It's a pleasure to meet you, Sheer." Rekees did a little, formal bow. "I hope we can be good friends!" She smiled broadly. "So, Sheer, you've been going to this school for sometime now, huh? What's your power?" Rekees queried. "Oh, I'm sorry if that sounds nosy, though! If you don't want to tell me, you don't have to. I can see the future and heal others, by the way." her words came out flustered, and she blushed and looked down at her feet. She felt rather shy around Sheer, well, more shy than normal. Plus, she felt, rather, nervous in front of this boy. A strange feeling for Rekees, since she really had never been nervous around other before. Hopefully she wouldn't be like that for long, because she really would have liked to be friendds with him, since he seemed so nice.

Sheer scratches his neck and looks at her curiously. He finds it interesting to watch the expressions on her face change. It's kind of cute the way she looks so nervous, though he can't tell what on earth she could be nervous about. "You really haven't seen me before?" He blurts out, not really thinking about being tactful or anything. It's a rude question, actually, but he doesn't notice. "Really? You missed the white hair and piercings?" He snaps his mouth shut, just now realizing what he's saying. For some reason it bothers him that this girl didn't even recognize him even though he's seen her around for the last three years.
He laughs dryly, his uncommonly deep voice lightening a little. "Tch. Don't mind that. You can see the future? I'm impressed." He really is, that's a nice power to have. He allows himself to imagine how useful something like that would be. He wouldn't have to snoop around following people and searching through video cameras, that would be a nice break. "Huh, my power?" He's surprised, though he shouldn't be since that's the question everyone asks. Always. On a whim, he decides to show rather than tell.
In less than a second he moves from where he was standing to right behind her. Her wraps his arms around her, squeezing her a little, and putting his head close to her ear he grins. "Increased agility. I can do anything." He whispers in her ear. Even though he wasn't intending to be creepy he has to admit that he might have overdone it. She'd probably take it the wrong way, though he hopes not. Sheer almost pulls away, but then he realizes that he can feel her heartbeat. He hesitates for a moment before he forces himself to move his arms and stand up straight.

Rekees's face turned bright red when she heard how surprised he was about how she didn't know him. She scuffled her feet and stammered, "I-i-i'm sorry! It's not that I've never seen you before, because I'm sure I have before! I'm just really forgetful and I'm not good with remembering names and faces. But I do kind of recognize you!" she looked down at her feet, embarrassed.
"Yes, it is a handy power." Rekees nodded. She was surprised he was impressed by the power, but she reminded herself that she was the only person who could see into the future, as far as she knew.
She looked at Sheer with an almost eager expression. She always enjoyed watching people use their power. She was surprised to see however, that in a blink, he disappeared, and suddenly she felt arms wrapped around her and his voice whispering into her ear. Rekees had always been a scaredy cat, so that day was no exception. She let out a little squeak of surprise and fear, and jumped a little and started to shiver. It was funny how such little things could frighten her. "Oh." she panted when she realized it was Sheer. "You surprised me! I thought you were a ghost or something." she automatically regretted saying that, because it made her sound like such a child, talking about ghosts. Her attention wandered off the topic fairly quickly, however, when she noticed that Sheer hesitated to let her go. She could feel her heart pounding a little faster, and she almost felt... Was it giddiness? What a strange feeling it was, seeing as Rekees had never really felt that way from a hug before. Rekees had to admit she sort of liked the feeling.
When he let go she turned to him, "That seems like a pretty useful power." She smiled bashfully, scuffling her feet again.

"Oh, no, it's okay, really." Sheer says quickly, trying to backpedal. "I didn't mean it like that, so don't feel badly, because it was a joke." Awkwardly, he kind of pats her on the head and hopes that that will make her feel better.
Then he jerks backwards, afraid that he's done another thing wrong. He hand't meant to scare her any more than he'd meant to make her feel badly about not knowing him. Tch. What a mess. He thinks. "Sorry, sorry." He mutters, tilting his face downwards so his white hair falls just over his eyes.
Feeling a little depressed, he slumps backwards against the wall. For whatever reason, the plaster wall is freezing and the cold goes right through his shirt. Upon hearing her complement he kind of tilts his head so his hair moves to the side and one of his brown eyes is visible. "It has it's perks." He says, not wanting to get any farther into the murkiness of his gift. While the agility is awesome he's always having trouble with the second part of his gift, the real snake in the pit. Since thinking about it makes it harder to control he forces himself to forget about it. He smiles slightly so that she won't freak out and read to much into his facial expressions this time and think he hates her or something. "Rekees, what are you doing out so early, if you aren't jumping out of windows?"

(Rekees worries way too much about other people's feelings...it's actually pretty exhausting to write) Rekees automatically switched to reassuring mode. "No no no, I didn't mean it like that! I don't think you're scary at all, I just meant that you surprised me! I'm really easy to scare, it's not your fault!" Rekees stutters, feeling bad for making Sheer feel sad.
"In all honesty, I don't really know what I'm doing outside so early. It actually happens to me quite often." Her eyes clouded with confusion for a moment. "I often find myself in a place and I don't remember how I got there. Or I'll be walking down a hall without knowing why. I guess it's fate really, because something always happens to me when that happens." She looked at Sheer and smiled, "Like meeting a new friend! I'm glad I'm here, because I got to meet you."

Sheer arches his eyebrows and he smiles slightly. He had made her panic again, he should try harder not to say such careless things. It seems like everything he says is wrong, though. He pushes his hair out of his face, again, and arches his back to push himself off of the wall. "No, not scary?" He asks, to confirm. She should be scared of me. "That's good, I'm glad." I'm not, it's not good, why don't you run?
He watches her explain, waiting patiently until she's done. Is she really so scatterbrained that she wanders around without thinking? And she calls it fate? Do that to often and you'll walk down the wrong alley someday. He laughs quietly. "You believe in fate? That's interesting, what do you think is more powerful, fate or our own ability to choose?"

"Not scary. Unless you want to be, of course." Rekees says, smiling at the fact that that made him happy. "Sorry, I keep panicking, don' I. I guess I worry about people's feelings too much!"
What an odd thing to ask. "Being a person who can see into the future, I'm big on fate and believe in it's power immensely. People can't change their fate, no matter how hard they try, unless they are like me. Everyone's actions, even the tiniest of things. If they knew what would happen somehow, and tried to change it, most likely their attempts to change it would end up causing it. Each cause ends up with the same effect, because what is going to happen has already been laid out. Like you, Sheer. If I told you your pet hamster was going to die, and you tried to prevent that from happening, most likely your attempts of keeping that hamster alive would cause the death of your hamster. Of course, that was just an example I made up, so don't worry. If you have a hamster, than I'm sure he's fine. But anyways, what I'm trying to say is, the future is already laid out,and nothing can change that. Well, no, that's a lie. There are a handful of people who can change it."
"If someone, like me, can see into the future, they can change the future. People who can travel through time can also change it. But most of the time, what they see is unavoidable, or for the best, so it isn't really wise to mess with the fabric of time. Mostly because the future, and the past, is very delicate. If one thing, just one thing, is changed, it could destroy the delicate time system. If that system was destroyed, then we would all be pretty much doomed. Which is why it is forbidden to try to change the events that have been laid out before us." Rekees was quietly panting by the time she was finished explaining. She didnt usually talk that much, so it had exhausted her quite a bit, and she wasn't even finished, "So, honestly, the only thing that is useful about my power is that I can prepare myself, and everyone else. I can't change it, only prepare and tell others. But on the bright side, I can tell people's fortunes! Do you want to know your fortune, Sheer?"
