Haku lay asleep on the nurse's office cot, his chest barely rising and falling in the light of the sunset. He knew the danger that lay ahead, but he ignored it, as the loss of sleep was making him even more dillusional and completely over the edge. Flock claimed that he hadn't been doing any better in the light of the last few days. "Everytime he slept, he would wake up in a cold sweat, screaming like something was chasing him, about to kill him."
You're an idiot. The logical, practical side of his brain said this. I knew what I had to do and I did it. What's so wrong with that? He argued with the other half of his brain. Leave me alone, I need to sleep.
After stealing the Ophelium from Brooke, he'd continued to get worse. He would wake up from nightmares far more drastic and murderous, their aftermath hanging on him like a death shroud. He gripped one side of sheet that covered his abdomen. Besides, what's done is done, and I can't go back in time and fix it.

Brooke walked into the sterile smelling nurse office for another one of Nurse Flock's checkups. "I'm here Nurse..." She said quietly, opening the door slowly after she knocked. Instead of nurse Flock, she found Haku. He was the first one she ever healed, and despite her suffering, she never regreted it. She was proud with her work. She didn't want to know how much pain Haku would've suffered with the full impac of the blood. Although, oddly enough, the Ophelium's song was merely an echo in her head now a days, just a memory. She couldn't help feeling something was up.
At the sight of Haku, she drew in a silent gasp. "Haku!" She exlaimed, rushing to his side. She pulled out a small hankie, which her mom gave her, and whiped off the sweat beading down his forehead. "What happened?" she murmured in worry. She was about to look for Nurse Flock, but decided against it. There was something unsettling about the nurse that made her get a headache. So she took matters into her own hand, not that she could help that much. Brooke took one of Haku's hand, and concentrated on the music. His song was noble, chivelrious, but it also sounded sad, and poignant. There was also a trace of the black blood's song, but it was louder, more powerful. She wasn't sure that it was like that from the begining or not, because she was knocked out after that eventful night. What was going on?

Haku stared up at Brooke with his steely green eyes. He spoke in a forced way, as if every breath of air he let out was one that he needed.
"Brooke," he said, coughing. "I-"
At this one of his painful day-dreams shot into his head, and he cried out, his hand curling tight around Brooke's. His pain was uncontrollable, and he couldn't stop it.
[glow=green,1,000]"I thought...""No, never!""You won't have to bother with your apprenticeship anymore.""That's not true! I didn't.. I didn't do it!" [/glow]
"I didn't!" Haku yelled the sweat Brooke had wiped off carefully sliding back into place. "I didn't..!" His eyes were screwed tight. Every second brought another wince of pain. His knuckles cracked as he held Brooke's hand tighter still.

Upon witnissing Haku's pain, tears formed in her eyes. She squeezed his hand tight. She didn't really know Haku, she just knew that he probably saved her life once. Her heart sank, she had forgotten to thank him. She kneeled down by his bed, watching in horror as her savior screamed in terror.
She thought about what he said. He kept repeating "I didn't" in the most desperate and vulnerable voice, a tear ran down her cheek. "I believe you Haku...." The words came out of her mouth suddenly, suprising her. She realized what she said was true. He was suffering right now, and it possibly was because of her. If she was out of the way, would it've made a difference? Questions coursed through her mine. She didn't even know what Haku was experiencing in his mind, yet she agreed with him. A guy like Haku, who risked his own life for other's safety, wouldn't lie about anything. She even heard the truth in his voice. She took his hand in both of her own, sending a melody to calm him. She hummed it out loud, but the true melody coursed through his hand straight to his mind, where the terror lied.
She truly admired Haku, for his strength, his powers, his gifts. She didn't really know the guy, his past, or anything really about him, and vice versa. Still, he had saved her life. She tried retracting more black blood from his veigns, but the blood fought back. She winced in pain at the Ophelium's counter-attack. She just wasn't strong enough. The blood was already in his system, taking over quickly, not allowing its victim to adjust. By now, she was sobbing. "I'm so sorry Haku...."
