T HINGS WILL NEVER » It was almost like martial law now that the saintly Shiloh had taken up a teaching position at the school he and Evie attended. Shiloh meant well, but insisting that Silas and his brother both drag themselves out of bed to see some silly comet, now that was ridiculous. Forget the fact that Shiloh wasn't exactly making them; Silas was convinced Shiloh knew he wouldn't refuse.
"Alright, Shiloh. When's your comet? "Silas prompted, his tone like acid as he walked out onto the rooftop. This was so silly. " Soon."Shiloh replied. Despite his son's tone, he smiled and turned to face his son. Silas was wearing his solid black flannel pajamas with no jacket, and apparently, no shoes. Just socks. Wasn't he going to get cold? Good thing he'd thought ahead and brought three old sleeping bags up onto the roof. Shiloh wanted this to be fun for the three of them. Just like old times. ✘shilohandsilas [/blockquote] « BE THE SAME ![/blockquote]

"When's the comet gonna get her, Dad?" Evie asks, yawning because he's tired but still managing to sound excited. "Don't comets have names? What's this one called?" The fourteen year old kid looks up and searches the sky as if he expects the comet to come at that very moment.
Like his brother, Evie is dressed in pajamas, an over-sized navy blue t-shirt that goes almost down to his knees and old black soccer shorts that are just long enough so the last inch of them can be seen. True to his habits, he's wearing his dark grey hoodie with the hood pulled over his shaggy black hair and instead of shoes he's wearing two mis-matched socks. In his rush to get out of his room so as to not miss the comet he had not had time to find two of the same socks, which is fine with him because he'd never liked wearing matching socks to begin with.
Evie rubs his eyes and blinks to clear his vision, noticing the sleeping bags. His tilts his head slightly like he does when he's thinking and wonders what will happen if someone comes up and finds them all sleeping there. Wouldn't there be rules? They'd be breaking rules! The thought brings a small smile to his face and for a moment he feels like a bit more of a rebel. Then he laughs silently at himself for being so childish.

T HINGS WILL NEVER » "Don't get him started. "Silas groaned. He did move over to his brother, sitting beside him. He'd rather be near Evie than Shiloh. He was conveniently ignoring the sleeping bags. But Shiloh suddenly seemed to think of them because he reached into one and pulled out two flashlights. The grin on his expression told that he was pleased as he offered the two flashlights to his two boys. Silas grudgingly took it and switched it on. " They call it 'c' two thousand ten, 'm' one; Gibbs."Shiloh explained. " The first time they found it was June twenty-second of last year. And it'll appear soon, I promise. The next time you see this should be August of next year, as far as they know." At least someone was interested in what he knew. Now that Silas was sitting beside Everette, he moved to sit at Evie's other side. ✘shilohandsilas [/blockquote] « BE THE SAME ![/blockquote]

Evie looks over to see Silas sitting down next to him and smiles a little, glad that he gets to be with his big brother. I don't get to see him as much anymore. He thinks sadly, reflecting on the last few days. It should get better, we're in the same school after all.
The flashlight in his face startles him out of his thoughts and he takes it happily. "Thanks! Look... I'm Sheer!" He turns the flashlight on and shines it in his face like they do during scary story time at campfires while leering at Silas. "Look at how scary and cool I am!" He laughs, meaning to to be more of a joke than an insult.
"Is that really it's name? I'd be upset if someone tried to name me that." He says seriously, still joking. "Oh, hey! I've got some chocolate." He pulls a whole bar out of his pocket and some to Silas and Shiloh. The way he sees it, no camping trip should be without chocolate.
(lol, I was going to say monster but I wanted to make fun of Sheer a bit.)

T HINGS WILL NEVER » That was not something Shiloh should laugh at. The kid was a student, and he tried his best to make all students feel like he was someone they could trust. But he couldn't help himself. A small chuckle escaped his lips, which he quickly tried to hide by raising his left hand to cover his mouth. Silas, on the other hand, saw no reason not to laugh freely at his brotehr's joke. See, there was a reason he loved this kid. so why
"You're very cool. But no need to try to imitate Sheer. "Silas assured his brother, raising his hand to ruffle the kid's hair affectionately. " Sheer tries to hard, and isn't as scary as he seems." Silas liked Sheer based on his encounter with Brooke and Sheer, but the idea of Everette really trying to imitate the boy was not something he was alright with. He liked his brother the way he was. All the kid needed was time to mature, not some kid to be like (unless that kid was him, then it was fine by him). " I'm pretty sure that's Sheer's real name. I'll ask the other teachers, check class rolls and let you know."Shiloh offered helpfully. Silas rolled his eyes. Only his brother's offer of chocolate made him happy again. " Thanks, Evie! I knew there was a reason I kept you around."Silas kidded as he took the chocolate from his kid brother. Shiloh took what was offered to him, too, offering a hushed 'thank you' to his son. ✘shilohandsilas [/blockquote] « BE THE SAME ![/blockquote]

Evie grins, glad that Silas liked his joke. "Why would I do that? I don't want to die my hair white and put holes in my ears." He makes a face at the idea. "And I know he's not scary, he got chocolate for me. And I heard that it was a fake name." Now that he stops to think about it, he has no idea where Sheer got chocolate. He decides that it doesn't matter.
"You're welcome!" He says to his father. He quietly nibbles pieces of his remaining chunk of chocolate and looks up at the sky, wondering when the comet will come.

T HINGS WILL NEVER » Shiloh glanced at his watch when Evie looked up at the sky. Just a few more minutes until it was supposed to appear at the horizon.
"Good I'd worry about you if you did. " Silas replied passively as he took a small bite of the chocolate in his hand. To the other part, about Sheer giving him chocolate, Silas' only real reaction was to stare at the chocolate in his hand, wondering if it was this chocolate that Sheer'd given him. Not that it mattered much. " That's nice of him. So you get along with him alright? No one else is causing you trouble?" The way Silas was talking, it sounded like it was a casual conversation. As if he didn't care, but just needed something to say. The truth was that if anyone was bothering Everette, Silas would waste no time in fighting back on his brother's behalf whether he wanted him to or not. " Boys- boys look."Shiloh prompted, gesturing in front of them as the comet came into sight and blazed up through the sky. Shiloh was grinning with delight while Silas kept to himself, watching the comet passively as if he'd seen it a million times already. It actually wasn't uncommon when they were kids for Shiloh to round up the family, including their mother and sister, for a night under the stars to wait out a comet that'd be passing by. But to Silas, since the divorce, it just hadn't seemed as important as it used to. ✘shilohandsilas [/blockquote] « BE THE SAME ![/blockquote]

Evie thinks for a moment, trying to remember if anyone had caused him trouble. "Yeah, I'm doing fine. The people here are nice." He smiles, remembering some of the friends he's made. It'd had been kind of rough at first, since he was the weird new kid who was from so far away, and there aren't even that many freshman for him to talk to because most of the students are upperclassmen. Still, it had been getting better.
"Wha? Now?" Evie stares up at the sky, so excited to see the comet that he doesn't see it for a few moments even though it's right in front of him. His eyes widen as he watches it travel across the sky. "Wow!"
