Alucard was sitting on the space by the window in one of the long corridors. He often frequented these perches from time to time, watching the crowds of other students passing by. It wasn't necessary to rush to class; he knew where most of them where, and he could always just teleport there. Today, Alucard was dressed differently. After one of the deans spied him with his dark red coat on, she had thoroughly insisted he take it off, that it wasn't dress code.
He'd been upset then. The coat was comfortable, and he could hide things in it. Oh well. It wasn't that serious a deal, and Alucard didn't want to cause trouble. So today he had thrown on the black pants and formal-looking top. And the red tie replaced the cravat he used to wear. The whole getup made him look..modern, instead of his favored Victorian style.
Casually, Alucard looked at one of the digital clocks on the wall. 7:05 am. He had plenty of time until the first class of the day started. It was a habit of his lately, getting ready so early. A thorough routine kept his mind off other things. |

Tyler skidded to a stop, seeing Alucard. There he is, he thought to himself. "Hey, you're Alucard, right?" he asked, approaching him.

"Hm?" Tyler's voice dragged Alucard out of his shallow brooding. He glanced upwards at the boy approaching him; he was the one who'd called out his name. "Yeah, that'd be me," Alucard replied. |

"Nice to meet you," Tyler said, holding out his hand, "I've heard a lot about you, and I'm so sorry for you losses."

"Yeah? Nice to meet you too." Alucard reached out, and shook Tyler's hand with less vigor that he had intented. He thought about who this guy was. He'd seen him around a few times but didn't really know him. "I'm sorry.. who are you?" |

"I'm Tyler Hastings, the headmistress's son," he responded, "And I know that you're Alucard Grimsley, Alucard is Dracula backwards, you came from the Havens, and you're a vampire." He stopped, "Excuse me, if I'm being rude. By the way, what's your gift?"

Alucard's face had an inkling of curiosity on it. The headmistress's son, huh? Well then of course he'd be this well-informed. But Tyler didn't know everything about him. Just the minor parts that only seemed important.
"Oh no, its alright," he says nonchalantly. "But yes, that much is true." When asked about his gift, he leaned back a little. "I don't have a singular gift. I'm what you'd call a multitalent." As Alucard talked, tiny shadows sprung from his palm and waved about. He stared at them a moment, then made them disappear. "As you can see, I can manipulate shadows. I can also teleport, shapeshift, and regenerate, to name a few." The other things unmentioned were things typical of vampires: incredible speed, superhuman strength, heightened senses. |

Tyler nodded, deep in thought. It would have been easier for us to just get people who specialize in each gift. But this way is more fun.
"How well would you say that you can control your powers, on aa scale of 1-10?" Tyler asked.

This is an honest question, Alucard thought. So it deserves an honest answer. "I only ever used them for combat," he admitted. "In those situations, I didn't have time to think about it, so I just went with my instincts. I say at least a seven or eight." |

Tyler paused for effect, as if he were thinking. "Would you like to keep it a 7-8 or make it a 9 or even 10?"

"I think I'm alright at 7-8..but I suppose there wouldn't be any harm increasing that number," Alucard shrugged. "..Why?" |

"By training," Tyler said, as if the answer was a no brainer, "I could help you try each of your gifts in combat, making them work faster, etc."

"I.." Alucard trails uncertainly. He was pretty much good at controlling his gifts, but maybe there was something more. Something else that was missing. "I..sure. Why not." |
