"Yeah," Tyler said, "And we run now, right?"

"Yeah," Damion replied. "I'm ready." Two minutes was sufficient time to catch one's breath.

Brooke nodded. "Ready", she understood the plan. She was ready to run. Although she didn't have super speed, she was quite quick on her feet. She turned toward her destination and sipped in a big breath.

Haku grabbed Brooke's hand. "Come on." he said.
He broke into a run, smoking around corners and grinding the ground with his boots, their metal ends leaving trails. Going too fast, he didn't notice the spirit in his way. He slammed his heels into the ground, alarmed.
"Master Haku!" It said.
Don't move. Haku silently thought to the others. Hold your breath, and he'll only see me.

Tyler frowned. He was out of breath, and knew that he was probably turning blue right now. Haku, he thought, hurry up. It was stupid though, to think that since he wasn't telepathic.

Damion nodded, and took the deepest breath that he could muster. He stood standing there, frozen. Holding his breath. He never needed to hold it for any amount of time. Please hurry..

Tyler could see black spots dancing in his vision. He caved in, exhaling and inhaling fast. It was either that or expose them as he fell unconscious. Both options sucked, but if he chose the second, then someone would have to carry him.

The spirit jumped. "Humans!" He spun towards Tyler, and Haku forced his hand out at the last minute, stopping the spirit. Steam rose from Haku's skin, a painful burn leaving its mark. Haku snapped his fingers, and the spirit was enveloped in a black circle of shadows.
"C'mon!" he shouted, pulling Brooke along with him. "Hurry! That circle won't last forever!" He rounded corners and finally found a safe haven; a rounded bush. Haku sat himself on the ground, pain spreading through him.
"Don't." Haku growled, more to himself than anyone else. His pupils slit as the pain seeped in. Hold it in. Hold it in. He told himself. We're not close enough to the school for you to let it go. The burn didn't cease steaming away, its long smoky tentacles lifting towards the night sky.

Damion bolted forward when Haku gave them the cue to run, and quickly. He ran behind Haku and Brooke, and dove into the bushes after he turned a corner, sitting a little ways away from them. "Sheesh," Damion panted. "I'm never coming over here again."

(that's right, I am posting at midnight just can't fall asleep for some reason ugh) "Why are they even here, damn it!" April spat, tumbling into the bush after Damion, "And why do they hate us exactly?" She gasped for breath. Her sleeping patterns had become irregular and always changing,(thanks to nightmares) and she barely had enough energy to walk and talk, although she tried not to show it.

Brooke held onto Haku's free hand, and she stared at his burnt hand. "Are.....are you okay Haku?" she managed to utter. She was scared, apalled, lost, and a little tired. Keeping up with Haku's speed wasn't enervating, but it wasn't easy either, even for her speed. He had more agility than her, not to mention it was the middle of the night. She couldn't believe what she had just seen, but she was more concered for Haku's well being. She looked out through the leaves of the bush, and back at Haku, his hand emitting some sort of smoke. Plagued with worry, she had no idea what to do, how to help. His song was a hurt, determined melody. "May I use my gift Haku? To soothe your hand? I don't know if my powers are suffice to do any good though, for I haven't really explored them yet. I'm not sure of it's potential effects. But if it helps, I'm willing to try my best" She whispered hesitantly...

"Sorry guys," Tyler said, smiling sheepishly as he appeared through the bush.

Haku stared at Tyler for a second, not speaking. When he removed his hand from his arm, it had deep levels of burns. He looked at Brooke with a brief glance. He looked away quickly before speaking. "Yes, I would-" He paused to wince-"-appreciate it."

Taking Haku's hand slowly, she nodded. "I will try my best", she whispered. She looked at the severe burns and took a deep breath. Putting her right hand just above his wounded hand, she closed her eyes and sang a soothing melody. She whispered words that just came to her. She was absorbing his pain with her song. For a minute she felt his pain, which caused her to wince. The pain disintigrated slowly as her song did also. She finished her melody and opened her eyes, seeing a dwindling light coming from Haku's hand. When she took her hand away from his, she grinned from ear to ear. She'd just accomplished her first healing. "I....I.... did it!"

Damion shrugged at April's question, and his attention was suddenly absorbed by the spectacle in front of him. He was wide-eyed as Brooke healed Haku's hand. When it was known the procedure was successful, he smiled smally. "Hey...congrats. That was cool." Damion kept what he wanted to say short and to the point. There were still the creepy spirits to worry about.
